HOW WE WORK

We love weddings. Posh frocks. Big hats. Sock-surfing on the dance floor. And the emotional roller-coaster. We work to photograph your day as it happens. Capture every moment naturally. Blend in. No fuss. We get great pictures of you and your guests looking fabulous and having fun, rather than grinning uncomfortably at a camera.

Both Mandy and myself will attend and photograph your day. That way Mandy can cover the bride's preparations while I'm with the groom greeting guests, drinking in the pub and/or shaking nervously. Having two of us also means we can cover certain aspects of your day more effectively, and from multiple angles, while remaining discreet and without needing to constantly move around especially useful during the ceremony and speeches.

Although we concentrate on covering your day as it happens, reportage wedding photography, photojournalistic wedding photography, whatever, we're also happy to do a few 'formal' shots if desired/at the behest of parents. But they're not line-up shots and nor do they take ages. We get certain people together, get them doing something, and rattle off a few shots while they're not expecting it, genuine and natural expressions despite the involvement.

So your finished album tells the whole story of your day we reckon it's best to start an hour before the ceremony and finish half an hour after the first dance. That way we get a bit of everything. We have a couple of packages, one for five hours the other for eight, and you can add additional hours if needed.

After the event we'll sort out the images and produce contact sheets from a working list of about 900 pictures. Mandy will then design and print a draft album layout which, along with the contact sheets, we aim to have waiting for you when you return from honeymoon. It's then much easier for you to sit down and edit the draft rather than design your album from scratch. The draft goes back and forwards while alterations are done. And then, once you're happy with the layout, we produce the final album.

Your album design is unique to you and you can have as much, or as little, input in the design process as you like. You're welcome to come to the studio and work through your alterations on screen with Mandy. Or, if you prefer, it can all be done by post or email. We produce the album pages in-house with a satin-matt finish (ultra gloss is also available) and then have them bound into your album.

The standard album has a leather cover but you can also choose to have an acrylic picture cover or a picture wrap cover.

In addition to producing your draft album while you're on honeymoon, we'll also host your wedding blog and gallery. Your blog is a handful of pictures from your day along with a comments form so friends and family can see the pictures and leave messages. Visitors to your blog will also be able to visit a full gallery of images from your day and order prints direct online. (Click the Client Blog link left.)

And any of the images can be finished as beautiful pictures to hang on your wall; either in our stylish frames, as huge canvases or as funky acrylics. You can also have copy albums for parents and buy the pictures on CD.

I hope this is of interest and Mandy and I look forward to discussing your day with you.

Best wishes,

Toby.

PHOTOJOURNALISM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Wedding photojournalism is the documentation of weddings in a candid, unobtrusive style.

In simple terms wedding photojournalism tells the story of your wedding day, not dictates it for you. Its perfect for us as we stand back and observe beautiful people, fabulously dressed in amazing locations having fun. Perfect.

As wedding photojournalists our aim is to discretely photograph every natural moment of your day, from the getting ready through to the first dance. The tiniest glances between bride and groom during the service to the full blown dance action. Then present you with a beautiful album full of genuine moments. Our couples and guests consistently tell us that they tend to “forget” we're around and they carry on with their day. As there are two of us photographing we capture moments that you won't even see. Its the ideal situation for The Big Picture company to work at our best and discretely capture those unique moments of your wedding day.

When you look back at photojournalism wedding photography the pictures will evoke the emotion of your day. It will all come flooding back to you, the joy, the tears and the anticipation. Even if you are looking at a complete strangers photojournalistic wedding photographs, you will get a sense of that particular wedding day, that particular couple and that couples friends. Its so much more than a collection of candid photographs. Its storytelling through photographs that transcends cultural and language bounds.

We are very proud WPJA Wedding Photojournalists.
